Postdoctoral researcher

Seungjin Na

Seungjin is a post-doctoral fellow at the department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in Nuno Bandeira’s lab and a member of the Center for Computational Mass Spectrometry (CCMS). While at the University of Seoul (Korea), he obtained his M.Sc. degree in 2006 and Ph.D. degree in 2012 in Mechanical and Information Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Eunok Paek.  During his degree, his research interests was focused on developing the software in computational mass spectrometry, in particular for the identification of protein modifications. In March 2013, he moved to San Diego.

Research Interests

  • Metaproteomics analysis: developing software to analyze metaproteomics MS data including complex multi-species datasets from microbial communities, where their complete protein sequences are not fully known. (Collaborator: Samuel Payne, PNNL)
  • Suite of software for modification identification: MODeye and MODa for unrestrictive (blind) search, and DBond for identification of protein disulfide linkages.
